Inefficient / traditional cooking is a widespread issue affecting about 3 billion people worldwide, resulting in about 4.3 million premature deaths every year. Women and children bear the brunt of this problem, facing respiratory infections and other health issues. Environmental consequences include deforestation and soil erosion. Economic impacts arise due to increased fuel costs and time spent collecting wood. Despite progress, only 17% of people in low- and middle-income countries have access to clean cooking solutions. Addressing this problem is consistent with multiple sustainable development goals.
